I am an experienced teacher and have worked with primary and secondary pupils as well as university students and adults.
My qualifications include:
BA(Hons), Cert.Ed. Celta (Cambridge)
(Full CV, references, certificates, police checks available on request)
During my career I have had the privilege of teaching in state and private schools in the UK, as well as International Schools in the UAE, Singapore and China.
My extensive experience in assessing and understanding student needs enables me to tailor programmes to meet individual requirements. This is always accomplished in an informal and relaxed learning environment.
I am a firm believer that every child can succeed and the place of humour, patience and encouragement cannot be underestimated.
My career in education has always been varied, often challenging, sometimes surprising and definitely never dull!
I began teaching in state schools in the East End of London before moving to Peterborough, where I opened a nursery school when my own children were young.
In the 1980s I came to Worthing, and spent ten happy years teaching at Broadwater Manor School
(now Lancing Prep).
After a short break from the classroom, a move to St Swithun’s School in Winchester found me teaching History, and running a boarding house for fifty teenage girls – which kept me on my toes!
The opportunity to work abroad was an adventure I couldn’t resist, so tropical Singapore was my first international port of call, where I specialised in teaching English to Asian students.
A year in the UAE desert followed, which gave me the privilege of being involved in exciting teacher-training projects and meeting talented educationalists from all over the Middle East.
Four years in Shanghai, working with students in an International School has been my most recent adventure and I have many stories to
tell about life in China!
Now I am happy to be back in Sussex, close to family and friends – and feeling very settled in Angmering.
Fresh air, the sea and the Sussex Downs – there’s just no place like home!
